Jack Butler video interviewing Steve Mcintosh, Author of Evolution’s Purpose

[Click here to get straight to the video]

Integral philosopher Steve Mcintosh has published an important book which looks at the trajectory of humankind.  Evolution’s Purpose is a deep dive into how culture and consciousness are unfolding, and how this bespeaks of an evolutionary purpose behind human progress.  Lauded by such luminaries as Marianne Williamson (if you don’t know her you will probably know her quote made famous by Nelson Mandela, “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.”) who said “Steve McIntosh’s brilliant ideas are both stimulating and comforting”, Steve’s book is creating a stir.

What I wanted to achieve with this interview is a starter on the essence of Steve’s argument in Evolution’s Purpose.  We cover such things as – what is consciousness?  Why is the current scientific paradigm, which did so much to evolve us from religious supersition, now limiting scientific understanding?  Why do the good, the true and the beautiful (often touted in integral circles) make sense as an essential triad?   Why is every problem, in part, a problem of consciousness?  What of the future?

So, please do have a look at our video interview (note, it is in 3 parts). Steve is impressive with how much he has comprehended and has reflexively at his fingertips.  But he is also intelligible, practical and real in a way that the ‘consciousness movement’ sometimes is not.  And if his claims are true, they have sweeping consequences for how we can shape a better world for all.
